We’ve all experienced that subtle, nagging discomfort when a bone in our back or neck slips slightly out of place.
At first, you might try to ignore it. You keep moving, pushing through the day, compensating for the stiffness. But over time, every single movement requires double the energy. You’re constantly fighting friction, fatigue, and tension. You can still function, sure—but you aren’t thriving.
For a long time, that’s exactly how my spirit has felt.
Somewhere along the way—between the busyness of life, unexpected detours, and the noise of the world—I slipped out of alignment with what God had called me to do. It didn’t happen overnight. It rarely does. It was just a slow, gradual shift until one day I realized: I’m off-center.
Returning to your calling isn’t about striving to build something entirely new from scratch. It’s about returning to the foundation that was always there, waiting for you.
When God finally brings that spiritual “chiropractic adjustment”—realigning your steps, your gifts, and your heart back to His purpose—the shift is unmistakable.
The work that used to drain your energy begins to invigorate you. And the noise clears. You stop looking left and right to compare your journey to others. Then weight lifts. You realize how much energy you were wasting just trying to carry yourself while out of sync.
Stepping back into alignment feels, more than anything else, like coming home.
If you’ve been feeling off-kilter, or if you feel like you’ve wandered far from the original spark or call God placed on your life years ago, know this: the calling never left. It didn’t expire while you were taking a detour or walking around that same old mountain.
Every season spent out of alignment—every trial, every lesson, every quiet wilderness—has given you wisdom, perspective, and maturity. Nothing was wasted. God uses even our off-center seasons to prepare us for the work He has waiting for us now.
Getting back into alignment might require a little discomfort. It takes honesty to admit when we’re out of place and the courage to let God snap things back into focus.
But the peace on the other side? It’s like breathing fresh air after being underwater for a little while.
If you’re feeling that gentle tug at your heart today, don’t ignore it. Let Him do the adjusting. Step back into the flow, carry the wisdom of your journey, and welcome the comfort of coming home.
The Divine Adjustment
It happens oh so slowly, a slip, a fraction of space,
A small shift of the bone, then , a turn from the place
Where breath used to carry us steady and light,
Before we grew weary and settled for what was tight.
For so many years, we walk forward, just pushing on through,
Carrying burdens we weren’t meant to,
Functioning, barely moving, but fighting the strain
Of living off-center and calling it pain.
A bone in the back, a tilt of the spine,
How easy it is to drift from the Master’s design.
To forget for a season the sound of the Call,
And try to hold up what was never meant to fall.
Then quietly, gently, the Master hands place
Their palm on the friction, their weight on the grace.
A breath in the dark, a press and a yield,
And every closed border becomes an open field.
The snap of alignment, the sudden clear air,
The peace of returning to find He’s still there.
No time had been wasted, no detour in vain—
Just a heart being set back in rhythm again.
It isn’t a struggle, a climb, or a race.
It’s simply stepping right back in your place.
The friction is gone, the heavy doors yield:
I am home in the calling, restored, and healed.
