BIBLE STUDIES – Scripture, Reflection & Heartfelt Wisdom

I will be the first to tell you: I am not a theologian, and I don’t have a wall full of degrees. What I do have is a well-worn Bible, a cup of coffee, and a heart that has needed every single bit of grace, guidance, and comfort packed inside those Pages.

Have you ever watched a ship in the middle of a storm? Waves are crashing, winds are howling, and yet, there she sits—maybe tossing a bit, but she isn’t drifting. She isn’t being swept away. Why? Because somewhere beneath the turbulent swells, she is connected to a heavy piece of steel that has gripped something immovable.

Life can feel a lot like those turbulent seas. The news is loud, our schedules are packed, and our hearts get hit with sudden storms—heartache, worry, and those tough “bitter dishes” we’ve had to eat because of our own life choices. We get tossed around, and it can feel like we are drifting.

That’s where we need an anchor.

On this blog, we talk about the Anchor Point—and there is no greater anchor for the soul than the living, breathing Word of God. Hebrews 6:19 tells us: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” When everything around us is shifting, God’s Truth stays right where it is. It’s steadfast. It’s solid. And when we are connected to it, we don’t have to drift.

The Bible isn’t meant to just sit on our nightstands gathering dust, and it’s certainly not just for people who have it all together. It’s meant to be lived, wrestled with, and worn out. Like the old saying goes, “A Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”

What to Expect Here

You won’t find dry, complicated lessons here. Instead, think of these pages as a place to pull up a chair at my front porch table. Together, we’re going to look at Scripture through the lens of real, everyday life. We will dig into:

The Big Picture: Getting to know the heart of God through the books of the Bible.

Topical Studies: Looking at what Scripture says about finding grace, surviving hard seasons, and overcoming our own “slothful hand in the bosom” moments.

A Deeper Dig: Bridging what we have (the Word) with what we do (our lives).

This is a space to gather, ask questions, find encouragement, and above all, ground ourselves in the immovable, grace-filled promises of God.

Grab your Bible, pour your coffee, and let’s go see where we can set our anchor today!
