Day 1: The Resistance is Real (And It’s a Compliment)

If you have decided to step into your calling, you have likely noticed that the atmosphere has changed. Things that used to be easy now feel heavy. Doors that were cracked open seem to have slammed shut. You might even feel a sudden, nagging sense of “imposter syndrome” or a loss of peace.

Before you assume you’ve done something wrong, I want you to consider a different perspective: The resistance you are feeling is actually a confirmation of your direction.

The Enemy’s Strategy: The Pushback

The enemy is not a creator; he is a reactor. He doesn’t attack people who are stagnant, sleeping, or defeated. He attacks people who are waking up.

When you make the decree—“I will occupy the place and space God has given me”—you are effectively declaring war on the status quo. The enemy’s goal is simple: Pushback. He wants to nudge you out of your lane, distract you with “earthly noise,” and make you feel so small that you voluntarily surrender your territory.

Key Insight: The enemy doesn’t need to defeat you; he only needs to convince you to give up your confidence. Without confidence, your authority remains dormant.

Looking Him Square in the Face

How do we handle this spiritual friction? We don’t run, and we don’t hide. We follow the biblical mandate to “resist the devil” (James 4:7 ESV).

To look the enemy right square in the face means to acknowledge the opposition without being intimidated by it. It’s an act of holy defiance. It’s saying, “I see the storm, I see the lies, and I see the pressure—but none of these things change what God said about me.”

Day 1 is about shifting from a defensive posture to an offensive one.
• Defensive: “I hope I can survive this attack.”
• Offensive: “I am standing in the space God gave me, and I am not moving.”

The Trap of “Casting Away”

The Bible warns us: “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward” (Hebrews 10:35 NKJV).

Notice the phrasing. Most of the time, the enemy doesn’t steal our confidence; he waits for us to cast it away. He creates a situation so uncomfortable or a delay so long that we eventually get tired and drop our shield.

Don’t drop it. The very confidence you feel like losing is the key to the “great reward” that is waiting on the other side of this resistance.

Activation: The Bold Stance

Today, take a moment to physically and spiritually stand your ground. Speak this over your life:

“I recognize the pushback, and I refuse to be moved. I am not losing my confidence. I am not casting it away. I am bold, I am beautiful, and I am God’s own. I occupy my space now.”

Reflections for Day 1:

  1. In what area of your life are you feeling the most “pushback” right now?
  2. Have you been trying to “hide” from the resistance, or are you ready to look it square in the face?
  3. Write down three things God has told you about yourself that the enemy is currently trying to make you doubt.
